Management Reporter Integration failed with error “The REFERENCES permission was denied on the object 'DATAAREA', database ‘XXX_XXX_XXX’, schema 'dbo'.Rolling back transaction “ in AX2012R3

Solution : As per the error, the account which we used to run MR services has no ‘References ’ permission on DATAAREA table, on transaction database. To over come this error we have to provide required rights as per the below screen.

Connect to SQL Server --> Open SQL Managament Studio --> Expand ‘database’ --> Expand ‘Security’ --> Select ‘MR Service account’ --> Click on ‘Securables’ --> Select ‘DATAATEA’ and ‘Reference’ Tick Mark on ‘Grant ’ --> Click ‘Ok’.

Now goto Management ‘Configuration console’ stop and Start Integration, it will finish without any errors.

Unable to preview the report, install the Microsoft SQL Server Data Tools – Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2013

When I tried to preview AX report in Visual studio 2013, received above error.

My environment details are:
Operating System: Windows server2012R2
Application: MSD AX2012R3CU10
SQL Edition: SQL2014SP1 Developer Edition
Visual Studio: VS2013 Professional with Update 4

As per the TechNet / blogs, In SQL 2014, Business intelligence feature is removed. Previous versions of SQL 2014 (ex: SQL2012SP1) Business intelligence feature is available with name ‘SQL Server Data Tools’ and it comes with SQL media file.
To resolve Reports preview issue we have to download and Install Business intelligence tools in your host alone.
